Things you should do before the Class-12th board result is out
If you have given your 12th boards and is thinking of getting into any college of Delhi university (DU), then you must do the following things in order to be well prepared this admission season.
Study hard and get good marks in your board exams ( simple...!! right ?? )
Well its too late for that now but here is the list of things you should do to reduce the chaos during admission process.
Minimum expected marks- well, every student is aware of how his/her exams has gone and he is aware of the kind of marks he is going to score. Therefore, recall how you have attempted all your papers and then note down the minimum marks you are going to score as well as the expected marks. This range will help you to know your chances to secure a seat in Delhi university college.
(This step becomes even more necessary as there are rumours that from this admission session students have to tick choose the college they want in the admission form. Also, there will be a limit over the number of choices you can make)
Collecting necessary documents- There are number of documents required during admission :-
- Apart from the documents you will get after your class 12th result you can arrange the documents as well as their 5-5 photocopy in a file that are already with you like-class 10th mark sheet, class 10th passing certificate.
- The candidates belonging to different reserved and other special categories, viz. SC and ST, Persons with Disability (PwD), J & K Migrants, Children of War Widows, Foreign Students, etc. should arrange their concerned certificates.
- Although, Reserved category should keep in mind that their caste is stated in the centre list of the country. As quotas are offered to only those students whose caste is in the centre list and also have a certificate proving that. I have seen many students who present their state caste certificate and getting rejected, therefore keep in mind that your caste is stated under centre list and you have a valid document proving that otherwise you will not be eligible for admission process.
- If you are applying for any sports or extra-curricular quota then arrange all the certificates that you are having. And if any certificates or recommendation letter is pending that you have to collect from school, then just go and collect them as sometimes it takes time.
Second option- Always have an alternative option. Apply to other universities and the courses of Delhi university for which an entrance exam is conducted, as the cut off's are unexpected. May be they are in your favour or maybe not, therefore always have a second option available.
Till then be confident as the board result is always more than you expect for.
Enjoy your holidays :) and yes happy college hunting ;)
